Rosendo Chavarria

He was born on June 12, 1928, in Tizapan el Alto, Jalisco, Mexico, to the late Victor Chavarria and Consuelo Nuñez-Chavarria. On April 14, 1976, he married Maria de Jesus Ornelas-Chavarria, and together they shared 49 years of marriage.

Rosendo was a proud member of the United Steelworkers of America and worked at LTV Steel Local 1011. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his children Silvia (Jesus) Lozano and Felipe Chavarria; grandchildren Jesus Jr., Esteban, Lyzett, Liliana, Karla, Rosa, Luis, Araceli, and Maritza; and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Rosa Chavarria; and his grandson, Alejandro Chavarria.

A private family service was held on September 22, 2025, at Chapel Lawn in Crown Point, Indiana. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday October 6,2025 at 11:00 am at St. Patrick's Church 3802 Grand Blvd, East Chicago, IN 46312 , and his final resting place will be in the Chapel of Reflection Niche Section at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens.
