Shawn J. Smith, age 34, of Highland, IN passed away on Monday, June 1, 2015. Officer Smith is survived by his wife Sandra (nee Lopez); son Samuel and daughter Sofia, both at home; parents L.A. and Kathy (nee York) Smith of Calumet City, IL; and brother Brian Smith of Munster. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2015 at 10:30 AM at First United Methodist Church, 6635 Hohman Avenue, Hammond with Pastor Shannon Stringer officiating. Officer Smith worked for the Town of Highland Police Department and was a member of the Donald Sheppard Lodge #122 Fraternal Order of Police.
