Verna "Lue Vernia" Greene

Verna was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Richard Greene; her daughter, Renee Ashley; her sisters, Audrey Berkey, Irene Elkins-Wann, Glaida Erickson, Gladys Clem, Mary Counts, and Daisy Langer; and her brother, Jim Parks.

She is lovingly remembered by her sons, William Dean Ashley of Winchester, TN, Wesley Leon Ashley and his wife, Linda, of Gary, IN, Michael John Ashley of Winchester, TN and Darrell Ashley and his wife, Christi, of Winchester, TN. She is also survived by her sisters, Joyce Stephens, Patty Haarer, and Sharon Haarer and her husband, Jim.

Verna cherished her many friendships, especially those with Dottie Harper, Lorene Long, and Lena Steele.

She leaves behind a lasting legacy through her fifteen grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, along with numerous nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly.

Verna will be remembered for her love of family, her strength, and the kindness she showed to everyone who knew her.

A visitation for Verna will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2026 from 10:00 am until time of her service at 1:00 pm at Kuiper Funeral Home, 9039 Kleinman Road, Highland, IN 46322. Burial at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens.
