VERNON GEORGE ROSS LANSING, IL Vernon George Ross, age 83 of Lansing, IL, passed away Friday, March 8, 2013. He is survived by his two daughters: Gaynetta Ross and Georgette (Tony) Sowash, both of Dyer, IN; two granddaughters: Trudy and Sarah Sowash, also of Dyer, IN; two sisters: Nellie Rayfield of NC and Hazel Ross of GA; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Ross was preceded in death by his wife, Gaynelle in 2011. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. at Kuiper Funeral Home, 9039 Kleinman Road (two blocks south of Ridge Road) Highland, IN with Rev. Charlie Sartin officiating. Interment and additional services will be held in Blue Ridge, GA. Friends are invited to meet with the family Tuesday, March 12, 2013 from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service at Kuiper Funeral Home. Mr. Ross was a member and Deacon of Trinity Baptist Church in Hammond, IN and retired from Republic Steel with 32 years of service. He enjoyed playing the guitar in his younger days and especially liked Bluegrass and Gospel music. Vernon loved his family dearly and enjoyed spending his time with them.
