

Wilbert Lewis Norfolk was born on September 18, 1949 in Covington, TN, to Mary Frances Norfolk and William Tipton, Jr.. Both are deceased. Wilbert passed away on October 19, 2025, at the age of 76. He accepted Christ into his life at an early age.
Wilbert graduated from Frazier High School in 1967. After graduation, he relocated to Gary, IN, where he was employed by U.S. Steel. His employment was interrupted by the draft. He went to the Army in 1967, and received an honorable discharge in 1971. Wilbert returned to U.S. Steel, where he worked in several positions and retired after 36 years. He also attended Indiana University NorthWest, where he met his wife, Cynthia Miller, in 1974.
Cherishing his memories are wife, Cynthia; son, Wilbert (Bert) Jr. (Eunishia) Norfolk; and nephew-son, Alliston (Angel) Howard.
Paternally, Wilbert is survived by four sisters, Wanda Tipton and Elizabeth Ballard of Gary, IN, Almeda ("Peggy") Shelton of Indianapolis, IN, and Chariece (Levi) Butler of Thomasville, AL; and four brothers, Terrance Frazier, William Ballard, Jimmy Mitchell, and Deon, all of Gary, IN.
Maternally, Wilbert is survived by three sisters, Margaret (Hezekiah) Bibbs and Brenda Muex, of Flint, MI, and Angelique ("Angie") Muex of Owosso, MI; and four brothers, Robert (Christine) Muex of Burton, MI, Ulyse Muex of Flint, MI, Jerry (Karen) Muex of Atlanta, GA, and Michael Muex of Flint, MI.
He is also lovingly remembered by four grandchildren, Evian, Elani, Brennan, and Brylan Norfolk, all of Indianapolis, IN; special nieces, Arianna and Alaynna Howard, of Gary, IN, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mai Lois Moore and Mary Ann Tipton; and brother, Marvin Tipton.
A visitation will be held at Kuiper Funeral Home, located at 9039 Kleinman Road, Highland, IN 46322, on October 29, 2025, from 9:00 to 11:00 am. The funeral service will follow at the same location starting at 11:00 am.
A committal service is scheduled at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, situated at 20953 West Hoff Road, Elwood, IL 60421, on October 29, 2025, from 1:30 pm to 1:45 pm.
