

Willis S. Miller, age 94 of Munster, IN, born December 9, 1915 in Browns Valley, MN, passed away Saturday, November 13, 2010. He is survived by his son, Glenn (Robin) Miller of Munster; two grandsons: Eric (Kim) Miller of Merrillville and Kurt Miller of Schererville; three great grandchildren: Jacob, Cory and James; one brother, Dean (Dot) Miller of Minnesota; and five sisters: Romona Schueller of Idaho, Dolly (late Gorden) Leverson, Joyce (late Bill) Kaufman, Ardyce (Wally) McKee, all of South Dakota and Marian Saide of California. Mr. Miller was preceded in death by his wife, Irene V. Miller; parents: Harry and Clara Miller; brother and sister in law: Eli and Betty Miller; and sister, Helen Miller. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. DIRECTLY at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 8501 Calumet Ave., Munster, IN with Rev. Michael Yadron officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Schererville. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Tuesday from 3:00-8:00 p.m. at Kuiper Funeral Home, 9039 Kleinman Road (two blocks south of Ridge Road) Highland. A Christian Wake service will be held 3:30 p.m. at the funeral home on Tuesday. Mr. Miller was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church of Munster and was a charter member of the Knights of Columbus Msgr. Weiss Council #10596. He retired from US Steel with 25 years of service and was a charter member of American Legion Post #485 of Schererville. He was past commander of the D.A.V. Chapter #17 and was a veteran of the U.S. Army during WWII. Mr. Miller was also a member of The Greater Hammond Food Bank. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, who loved his grandsons and great grandsons and would help anyone in need. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital would be appreciated.
