Mr. Andy G. Banas

Andrew G. Banas, 78 passed away on Monday, November 1, 2010 in a local hospital.

He was born in Lorain, Ohio on February 22, 1932, and a resident of Hixson since 1972.

He retired from the Lorain Company in 1982 and the Phillips-Van Heusen Corporation in 1996.

He was preceded in death by his parents John and Mary Banas; Brothers John Banas Jr., Richard Banas and sister, Mary Jane Banas.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Darlene; sons Kevin Banas of Chattanooga (Susan), Keith Banas of Trumbull, CT (Kristy) and Robert Banas of Canton, GA (Jenny); Grandchildren, Ben and Abby of Canton, GA, and Lauren and Vivi Banas of Trumbull, CT.; Siblings, Beverly Zahorec of Lorain, Ohio and Edward Banas (Dianne) of Lorain, OH and Oakland, FL and many nieces and nephews.

He served his country in the U.S. Army, with the 28th Infantry Division “Keystone Division,” during the Korean Conflict.

He was an active member with the Memorial North Park Cardiac Rehab Group in Hixson for over 12 years.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, November 5, 2010 at the North Chapel with Rev. Ken Clark of Oakwood Baptist Church officiating.

Interment will follow at Chattanooga National Cemetery with full Military Honors.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 PM on Thursday, November 4, 2010 at the North Chapel.
