She was shaped by a generation that valued work, self-reliance, and devotion to faith and family above comfort or recognition. She had little use for idleness and preferred to be outdoors, especially in the warmer months.
Anna Mae was preceded in death by her husband, Walter, a World War II veteran, who passed away in 1997.
The world she kept in order will feel different now.
Anne Mae is survived by her son, James Howard and his wife Shelly, and her stepdaughter, Bess Pontillas.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, February 7, and 2 to 3 p.m. on Sunday at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.
A Celebration of Anna Mae’s life will follow at 3 pm on Sunday at the North Chapel with Reverend Roy Gentry officiating.
Burial will be private for family members only on Monday at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
