Barbara Ethel Henderson

She was born in Boston, Massachusetts on January 22, 1930 to the late Daniel and Ida Mackenzie. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, William Arthur Henderson, three brothers and two sisters.

Barbara was a member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood and served in various positions. She was also a member of Hixson United Methodist Church and the Sam McConnell Sunday School Class.

She is survived by her five children, Eddie (Connie) Henderson of Hickory, North Carolina, Penny (Dan) Hynes of Glens Falls, New York, Gail (Jim) Schermerhorn of Hixson, Tennessee, Nancy (Randy) Rose of Birchwood, Tennessee and Scott (Jody) Henderson of Ooltewah, Tennessee, ten grandchildren, Ian and Brent Henderson, Melissa Pecora, Jeff Schermerhorn and Amy Frederick, Ina, Evan “Her Hero”, Emery, Olen and Oliver Henderson and 4 great- grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 17, 2020 at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 18, 2020 at Hixson United Methodist Church, 5301 Old Hixson Pike, Hixson, Tennessee 37343 with Rev. Reed Shell and Rev. Drew McCallie officiating. Interment will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens with her grandsons serving as pallbearers and the P.E.O. Sisterhood serving as honorary pallbearers.
