

He worked for McKesson Corporation as a Division Manager for 38 years. Bennie was a member of Dallas Bay Church. He loved the Lord and lived out his Christian faith. Bennie was quiet and unassuming, but led by example.
Bennie loved his family and treasured the time spent with his family on vacations. Family celebrations and reunions always brought him joy. He was an avid sports fan and loved Alabama football. Watching his children and grandchildren play sports was one of his greatest passions. He rarely missed an event. Bennie was immensely proud of his children and grandchildren. To his grandchildren, he was Poppy and they adored him. His love for his wife of almost 50 years was unwavering. His family is close because it was important to him.
Bennie was preceded in death by his parents, James Farris Butler and Maebell Long Butler; his brothers W.C. Butler and Douglas Butler; his sisters Brenda Snow and Janice Kuykendall.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine Butler; and their children, Greg (Abby) Butler, Alisha (Sam) Bledsoe; his grandchildren, Madison Butler, Taylor Bledsoe, Cailyn Butler, Sawyer Bledsoe, Carter Bledsoe and Gracen Butler. He is also survived by his children of a previous marriage, Diedra (Bob) Dolejs, David Butler, and Debra (David) Chism; his grandchildren Travis Dolejs, Monika Lelise, Garrett Butler, Daniel Chism, Adam Chism, and Margaret Butler. He is also survived by his sister Frances Ferguson, his brothers Lavell Butler and Tim (Teresa) Butler, and many special nieces and nephews.
A visitation for Bennie will be held Friday, September 20, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Chattanooga Funeral Home-North Chapel, 5401 Highway 153, P.O. Box 9, Hixson, TN 37343. A funeral service will occur Friday, September 20, 2024 at 1:00 PM with Dr. Ronald Holmes and Gil Roebuck officiating. A committal will occur Friday, September 20, 2024 at Hamilton Memorial Gardens following the funeral service, 5351 TN-153, Chattanooga, TN 37343.
Sam Bledsoe, Sawyer Bledsoe, Craig Butler, Scott Holmes, David Holmes, and Mike Cork will serve as pallbearers.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Care Center of Chattanooga, 937 Blackford St, Chattanooga, TN 37403, to update furniture for patient families.
