Benny was born in Walnut Grove, Alabama and was a longtime resident of the Chattanooga area. He retired from the Millwright Local # 654. Benny was a member of Mile Straight Baptist Church. He was a member of the Daisy Masonic Lodge and the Alhambra Shrine Temple.
Benny was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Buckner Stanfield;
He is survived by his three sons, David Stanfield and his wife Beth, Randy Stanfield and his wife Beth and Danny Stanfield and his wife Wilda; seven grandchildren, Clint Stanfield and his wife Jennifer, Courtney and Brandon Stanfield, Todd Cannon, Clay Cannon and his wife Kelly, Houston Stanfield and Johnny Huff; six great grandchildren; brother, C. D. Stanfield and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday at the North Chapel.
The services for Benny will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday at the North Chapel with Dr. Al Goss officiating. Burial will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens with a Masonic graveside service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mile Straight Baptist Church, 8448 Springfield Road, Soddy Daisy, TN 37379.
