Britt (Wilbur Brittain) Gaston Jr.

Wilbur Brittain Gaston Jr., known affectionately as Britt, passed away on August 20, 2024, at the age of 56 in Montevallo, AL. Born on January 13, 1968, in Birmingham, AL, he was a beloved father, brother, uncle and friend.

Britt was a graduate from Huffman High School before earning his degree from The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. He was a skilled craftsman, inheriting his father’s talent in woodworking, cabinetry, as well as stained glass. This trade became a cherished activity he shared with his son and displayed his art in his family’s home. Britt’s life was marked by his love for the outdoors and various hobbies. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, riding four wheelers, and collecting guns. He was a proud supporter of Alabama football and a connoisseur of classic rock music and movies. His love for cooking and grilling brought his family together around the table, creating lasting memories.

He is survived by his former wife, Melody C. Gaston; his two children, Brittain (Sydney) Gaston and Meredith (Josh) Eldridge, sisters Rebecca (Gary) Hill and Deborah (Mike) McNamee as well as many loving cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Britt was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbur “Bill” Brittain Gaston Sr. and Peggie Lois Gaston; and his sisters, Glenda Jane Crawford and Erin Deneé Gaston.

Services for Britt will be held on Monday, August 26, 2024, at Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory & Florist-North Chapel and Hamilton Memorial Gardens, located at 5401 TN-153, Hixson, TN 37343. Visitation will begin at 12:00 PM, followed by the service at 1:00 PM, and then a burial on site.
