

Carl Johnson, 83, 2/2/1942 – 1/23/2026, passed away Friday evening at home with his family at his bedside. He attended Soddy Daisy High School and attended Daisy Church of God for many years prior to becoming home bound due to illness. He loved his country and was an Army veteran. He was a lifelong employee, maintenance electrician at Dixie Yarns and then Stowe Mills. He retired at age 62.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Iva Mae Johnson; brother, Henry, Walter, Ernest, Russell, Raymond, Burl, and Ed; sisters, Margaret, Ruby, Clara, Grace, and Gladys; and son, Jimmy Johnson.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Bess Mitchell Johnson; two daughters, Nina Carter (David) and Cathy Luttrell (Larry); grandchildren, Chastity Smith (Sean), Matthew Ward (Tara), Justin Luttrell (Kimber), and Colby Luttrell; and six great grandchildren.
Carl loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them all down through the years. He loved animals and when younger, riding horses and going on trail rides.
A special thank you to Soddy Daisy Health Care and all the staff, including the therapy department who cared for him for 20 days. Also thanks to Hearth Hospice , all of the nurses, plus Maranda, who tenderly provided patient care beginning December 9th.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 28th from 2:00 pm – 6:00 pm and on Thursday, January 29th from 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm at Chattanooga Funeral Home North Chapel in Hixson. The funeral service will be at 2:00 pm. In the funeral home chapel with Rev. Matthew Ward and Pastor Caleb Bolten officiating. Interment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
