

Carole Cooper Thomas, a beloved and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away on February 10, 2026, at the age of 77. Born in Chattanooga on March 30, 1948, to the late Loyd B. Cooper and Louise Barker Cooper, Carole was a faithful presence in the lives of her family and community.
Carole graduated from Hixson High School, Class of 1966, and went on to receive a bachelor's degree in history from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. Early in her career, she worked for Provident and CBL, but her true calling was in education. After completing her degree, she dedicated over 30 years to teaching at Signal Mountain Middle School and Signal Mountain High School.
In 1970, Carole married the love of her life, Richard, and together they shared a commitment that spanned over 55 years. She is survived by her husband Richard, their two sons, Tyler (Lauren) Thomas and Austin Thomas, and her grandchildren, Sky and Light Thomas. She is also survived by her brother Percy Cooper, sister Dottie (Paul) Sisemore, and a niece and several nephews, including Aimee and Paul David Sisemore, Mark, Daniel, and Matthew Ritter, and David, Derek, and Dustin Feddon.
Carole had a passion for shopping, enjoyed spending time at the beach, and loved flowers and herbs. She was an excellent cook and an avid Lady Vols fan. Carole and Richard were active members of St. Jude Catholic Church, where they found a supportive community.
A Celebration of Carole's Life will be held in the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home on Friday February 13, 2026, at 1:00 pm with her nephew, Father Dustin Feddon officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday February 12, 2026, from 4:00 - 8:00 pm. She will be laid to rest in the Chattanooga National Cemetery on Monday February 16, 2026, at 11:00 am.
Carole Cooper Thomas will be remembered as a devoted and faithful individual whose love and dedication touched the lives of many. She leaves behind a legacy of love, commitment, and cherished memories.
