Carolyn Beth Pewitt

Carolyn Beth Cagle Pewitt went to be with her Lord and Savior on June 1st. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents Carrol and Merle Cagle, brothers Oren and Ted and her cherished daughter Lissa Vickery. Survivors include her husband James Pewitt and children Kathy (Dave) Latondress of Murfreesboro, TN, Jeff (Karen) Pewitt of Maryville, TN and Julie (Chris) Armstrong of Ringgold, GA and son-in-law Kent Vickery of Lexington, SC. Her grandchildren will forever cherish tea and hot chocolate parties, reading books, trips to the beach and many more special times just spent talking with her. Those lucky enough to call her “Mimi” are Will and Sarah Vickery, Jackie and Joseph Donovan, Hayden and Parker Pewitt and Emily and Harris Armstrong.

Jim and Carolyn were longtime members of Memorial Baptist Church of Hixson, more recently with membership at Falling Water Baptist Church. Carolyn’s many church roles over the years brought her much joy and many lives were blessed by her sweet spirit and faithfulness. Her Christian walk began as a child at First Baptist Church of Madisonville, TN. The people of that church and town always held a special place in her heart. Among Carolyn’s most cherished memories are her years spent at Carson Newman College and many special times over the years with her roommate and lifelong friend, Lois Vandagriff.

Her greatest treasure was her family and we will forever carry on the legacy of her love for the Lord, love for life and loving others. When we remember or Mom, the Fruits of the Spirit come to mind: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. She was the greatest woman we ever knew and we rise up and call her blessed.

The family would like to thank the many friends and neighbors who have loved and cared for Mom in recent and past years and her special caregiver, Donna Fullbright.

Visitation will be Sunday June 2nd from 4:00-7:00 at the North Chapel (in Hixson) of the Chattanooga Funeral Home and also on Monday June 3rd at 11:00. The funeral will be at Noon on Monday June 3rd at the same funeral home with a graveside service immediately following.
