Charlene Nowell

On Sunday, January 30, 2022, Charlene Dodson Nowell passed away at the age of 87. Charlene was born on December 9, 1934 in Crossville, TN to Bill and Essie Dodson. She graduated in 1958 from Tennessee Tech University in Cookeville, TN and received her degree in Home Economics. Her work life included school teaching, raising three children, and working for Northgate Gallery Antiques. Charlene maintained many friendships through Brainerd Baptist Church and Redbank Baptist along with other neighborhood relationships in the Hixson area.

Charlene had a passion for baking, cooking, sewing, and crafting. If you were lucky, you got to sample her special banana bread recipe made in all flavors. “Char” as some called her had a smile that could light up any room. She had a special art for listening, giving advice, and offering a caring nature to those in need.

Charlene was proceeded in death by her father Bill, her mother Essie, and her younger brother Murel. She is survived by her three children Val, Scott, Todd, her older brother Willie, her grandson Cullen, and many other nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held on Friday February 4, 2022 at Chattanooga Funeral Home in Hixson, TN from 4-7pm. Charlene will be laid to rest in the mausoleum at Lakewood Memorial Gardens East.

Donations may be made in lieu of flowers to Hospice of Chattanooga or Teen Challenge.
