He was born in Chattanooga, and was a lifelong resident of Chattanooga, Soddy-Daisy, and Hixson.
Chuck was a graduate of Soddy-Daisy High School Class of 1988. He was employed for over 20 years by Southeastern Container in Cleveland, Tennessee, most recently as the maintenance coordinator. He was previously employed by Dixie Yarns in Lupton City.
Nothing excited Chuck more than cars. Whether it was building, maintenance, displaying, or racing, he was an avid car enthusiast. He spent many nights in the garage with friends and family, especially with his uncle Tracy Moore. The two of them shared a lifetime of brotherhood and a love of all things cars. Chuck and his wife Pam attended Pontiacs in Pigeon Forge annually, a car show raising money for St. Jude. Every year, undoubtedly, his orange G8 was going to place higher than Pam’s black one. They were also affiliated with Georgia G8 Car Club. They always loved riding in the Slay the Dragon event through the mountains. For Chuck, the car scene epitomized everything he loved: the speed, the smell of engines and burnt rubber, the roaring sounds of the motors, the racing, the competition, and most importantly, the camaraderie. He even formed friendships by randomly racing fellow G8 drivers through Atlanta on the way to events. All of these events and groups provided Chuck and Pam with lifelong friendships. His favorite quote was from Fast and the Furious: “I live my life a quarter mile at a time. Nothing else matters…For those ten seconds or less, I’m free”. He recently discovered a joy for off-roading in his Jeep, spending time with his daughter. Through it all, it was all about the cars, friendships and family.
Chuck was preceded in death by his mother, Nevelon Holcomb; and his maternal and paternal grandparents; and a nephew.
Chuck is survived by his wife of 31 years, Pam Summers; his daughters Ashton (Nick) Summers and Logan Summers; his grandson, Chasten Hamilton; sisters Valerie (Sam) Vickery, Tonya (Brent) Baker, and Amanda (Adam) Cox; his father Charles Summers; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
