

Dave Gus West
Surrounded by his loved ones, Mr. Dave West, 91, of Chattanooga, passed away at his home on August 27, 2020. Dave was born August 23, 1929, was a graduate of Red Bank High School Class of 1948, and lived in the Red Bank area all of his life. He was employed by DuPont for 36 years, was a member of the National Guard, and was a proud Shiners supporter and member of the 32 degree Red Bank Lodge #717 since 1958.
Dave was an avid boater, he loved to laugh, and had an amazing sense of humor. He was affectionately called “Uncle Dave” by many, even those not of relation. He had the patience of a saint, was a friend to so many, and was always present to loved ones.
Survivors include his wife Faye West, daughter Tami Johnson (Bob) of Knoxville, TN, grandchildren Patrick Smith (Savannah), Gabrielle, Hannah, and Alyssa Johnson, nieces and nephews Alan West (Vickie), Nancy W. Estes (Gary), Linda McClure-deceased (Lee), Debi W. Grant (Mike). Dave was a very special grandfather figure and great-uncle to Alex C. Estes (Maggie) and Ashley E. Shamblin (Dave). Other great niece and nephew’s Alana Zoanni and Joshua West-deceased, and other special ones in his life, Kelly Atkins and Dee A. Clark.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Blanche West, brothers C.A., Glenn, and Bill West.
Grave side Masonic service for family and friends will be held at Chattanooga Funeral Home, North Chapel, located at 5401 Highway 153 on September 2nd, 2020 at 11:00 am. There will be no visitation prior to the service.
