Dr. David Carl Nowading, age 71 passed away Sunday August 11, 2013 in South Dakota from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. He was born September 12, 1941 in Johnstown, Pennsylvania to the late Carl and Adelia Nowading.
He was retired from Tennessee Valley Authority after many years of service. He had served as a professor for both the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. He was a United States Air Force Veteran.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Veronika Nowading; son, Andre Nowading and his wife Vivian Nowading of Knoxville; daughter, Justine Avera of Portland, Oregon; sister, Sue Anderson and her husband David Anderson of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania; two granddaughters, Margaret and Anne Avera both of Portland; sister-in-law, Doerte Gerstenbert of Cologne, Germany; nephew, Matt Anderson of Washington, DC; and niece, Christine Zoldak of Cleveland, Ohio.
Dr. Nowading will be buried at Chattanooga National Cemetery. There will be no visitation or services prior to the interment.
