

Debbie was born in Kettering, Ohio and graduated from Collegedale Academy. She attended Chattanooga State, UTC and graduated from Southern Adventist University where she received her nursing degree. Debbie was employed with Erlanger Hospital for several years and was a member of St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church. Debbie enjoyed spending time with her family, running (at Collegedale Academy where she still holds 2 track records) and gardening.
She was preceded in death by her cousin, Robert Clemons and an uncle, Willard J. Clemons.
Debbie is survived by her husband, Dr. Michael Gallagher; her children, Brent and Tyler Carmichael, Molly, Allie and Ryan Gallagher; mother, Linda Breedlove and her husband James; father, Richard Ruhling, MD; brothers, David Ruhling, his wife Diane and their children, Elisabeth and Seth, John, Danny and Paul Ruhling; sister, Esther Ruhling and her children, Raquel, Chelsey and Emme; grandfather, Bruce Wickwire and his wife Adele and a grandmother, Leola Wickwire.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 pm on Monday at the North Chapel.
A Memorial Service for Debbie will be held at 3 pm on Tuesday at St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church, 630 Mississippi Avenue on Signal Mountain, with The Reverend John Dukes and Minister David VandeVere officiating. Burial will be private for the family only at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Debbie’s name to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
