Doyle Russell Fairchild

He was born to Fred and Alta Fairchild of Hixson, Tennessee on October 3, 1934, and was a Hixson High School graduate. Doyle never met a stranger and loved sharing his thoughts and stories with everyone he met.

He was married to Carol, the love of his life for 57 years, until her passing in 2011.

Doyle was retired from Dupont and later spent several years working in the grocery business. After retiring, he spent his time gardening and selling his produce and canned goods. Known by many as the “Veggie Man”, he had a loyal following of customers that quickly became his friends. Doyle loved fishing, and especially the times he spent with his son Scott in the Florida Keys.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his lovely wife Carol, his son Ricky, his grandson Graham, and his brothers, Jimmy, Leonerd, Everett, and Ralph Fairchild.

Doyle is survived by his children; Randy Fairchild, Scott (Cathy) Fairchild, Eric (Kristy) Fairchild, and Kelly Fairchild; his grandchildren, Julia Fairchild, Ricky Fairchild, Brittany Fairchild and Emma Fairchild; and his great-grandchildren, Layla, Nova, Caroline and Wesley.

The Fairchild brothers express their most sincere gratitude to their sister Kelly for her love, compassion, and dedication in taking care of Dad.

Funeral services will be conducted from the graveside at 3:00 PM Wednesday, November 19, 2025 in Hamilton Memorial Gardens with Pastor Reuben M. Taylor officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until about 2:45 PM at Chattanooga Funeral Home North Chapel, then process to the graveside.

Memorial contributions in Doyle’s memory may be made to T C Thompson Children’s Hospital.
