

Dwight Lewis McEwen, 36, of Whitwell, TN, passed away Wednesday, December 23, 2015, surrounded by family, after a 6 year battle with a rare aggressive bone cancer. He was a Christian. He loved his children more than life itself.
A native of Berrien Springs, MI, he grew up in Chattanooga and was a former resident of Signal Mountain. Until his health failed, he was employed by K & K Waste Disposal. He attended Chattanooga State, was a certified auto body mechanic and held a CDL.
Dwight had many interests and hobbies. He enjoyed fishing, camping, stump jumpin', guns, guitars, music production, and even yard work. One of his favorite pastimes was repairing and restoring old cars. He never met a stranger and was a friend to everyone.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Addalyn Brooke McEwen and grandparents, Tom and Jo McEwen.
Survivors include daughter Tayah McEwen, of Whitwell; son, Bryler McEwen, of Signal Mountain; stepdaughters, Christel and Amy Moody, of Whitwell; brothers, Daniel McEwen of Whitwell, Derek McEwen, of Cleveland, and Dakota McEwen, of Nashville; stepbrothers, Marshall, Derek, Randall and Brandon Clowers, all of Cleveland, TN; mother, Twila McEwen, of Calhoun, TN; father, Dan McEwen, and stepmom Elaine McEwen, both of Cleveland; grandmother, Shirley Eskridge, of Cleveland; grandfather, Alex Eskridge, of Michigan; special friend and caregiver, Renate Karhu-Welz, of Whitwell; cousins, nieces, nephews, and dog, Riptide.
Special thanks to Renate, Dr. Davey Daniel, Dr. James Headrick, Tennessee Oncology, Memorial Hospital staff, Myra Gaddis, and the many good folks with Hospice of Chattanooga.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Tuesday in the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Dr. Thomas Quisenberry officiating. Interment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Tuesday at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.
