

Elizabeth Bowman Bauerle, 90, of Chattanooga went home to be with Jesus, Wednesday, January 8, 2015 at her home. She was born November 27, 1924 in Chattanooga daughter of the late Columbus and Beulah Bowman. She was preceded in death by her husband, George T. Bauerle and a brother, Howard C. Bowman. Elizabeth graduated from Tyner High School in1941, and was a member of the National Honor Society and a writer for the school paper “The Torch”. After high school she attended business school. In 1944 she went to work at the Gaseous Diffusion Plant, K-25, in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. Elizabeth eventually returned to Chattanooga and worked as a private secretary for several local companies, including Power Equipment Company. Upon retirement she and her husband moved to Valley Head, Alabama and lived there until 2009. She was a member of the Valley Head Women’s Club and volunteer at the Baptist Hospital in Fort Payne, Alabama. She was an active member of the Grace Presbyterian Church in Fort Payne. In 2009 she moved back to Chattanooga. She was a member of Silverdale Baptist Church and the Joy Small Group.
Survivors include her daughter Teresa (Al) Bragg; sisters, Virginia Lankford and Melvia (ClarenceL.) Brumlow; brother, Victor (Judie) Bowman; four grandchildren, Geoff Bragg, Allyson Werner, Suzanne Hammontree and Railey Bragg; four great grandchildren, Gavin Smith, Kaben Bragg, Sorelle Werner and Sela Werner; several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to especially thank Dr. Douglas and staff and the staff of Hospice of Chattanooga.
Celebrations of life and homegoing will be11:00 am, Saturday, January 10, 2015 at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Pastor Tony Walliser officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5-7 Friday and from 10-11 Saturday.Arrangements under the direction of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory & Florist-North Chapel, Hixson, TN.
