Mrs. Clarke was born in Portland, Oregon. She married Albert Clarke at Ft. Wainwright, Alaska in 1965 and lived in Chattanooga for over 40 years.
She was an elementary school teacher at St. Nicholas School, and at several Chattanooga-Hamilton County schools. She also served as a Eucharistic Minister in the Catholic Church.
Mrs. Clarke was preceded in death by her parents, Col. and Mrs. Dured Ellsworth Townsend, and her brother, Dured Ellsworth Townsend, Jr.
Survivors include her husband, Albert Clarke; children Kathleen Drake, Beau Clarke, Jennifer Clarke, and Matthew Clarke; four grandchildren; and her brother, John Townsend.
Funeral services will be 1PM on Tuesday, December 21, at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. on Monday, December 20, at Chattanooga Funeral Home, North Chapel, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson, TN 37343.
Interment will follow in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
