Emogene “Gene” Bowen Gunn, 91, passed away Saturday, October 29, 2011. Born in Spartanburg, Indiana, she was a long-time resident of Chattanooga. In 1940 she married Alexander P. Gunn, who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Gunn was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church and was active in church ministry for many years, having served as Director of Christian Education at Brainerd Presbyterian Church and Central Presbyterian Church. She was an honorary life member of women of the Church, Knoxville Presbytery.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, Harry F. and Hester Bowen.
Survivors include her daughters, Brenda G. (Jim) Rogers of Signal Mountain, TN and Rebecca B. (Steve) Hunt of Franklin, TN; four grandchildren, Barbara (David) King, Henry (Bobbie) Bell, Katie (Mark) Arabis and Keven (Danielle) Hunt; and six great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 1 PM to 2 PM Tuesday at the North Chapel. A service will follow at 2 PM Tuesday at Chapel of Devotion in Hamilton Memorial Gardens with Dr. David Harr officiating. Entombment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
