James "Jim" Forest Ballard Jr.

James "Jim" Forest Ballard Jr. passed away on November 21, 2025, at the age of 74. Born on May 18, 1951, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Jim was a resilient, brave, hard-working, and inspirational individual who touched the lives of many.

Jim was a resident of Signal Mountain, Tennessee. He attended Tyner High School and went on to become an entrepreneur, starting several successful businesses in the Chattanooga area. His professional achievements were a testament to his dedication and work ethic.

Jim was married to Debbie Golston Ballard, and together they raised two sons and a daughter. He was a devoted family man who cherished his time with his loved ones.

In his personal life, Jim enjoyed hunting deer and turkeys, gardening, yard work, and fishing. He was actively involved in his community through organizations such as the Optimist Club, the Associated General Contractors, and the Mechanical Contractors Association.

Jim is preceded in death by his loving wife, Debbie Ballard.

Survivors include his children, Chris (Lori) Ballard, Katie Ballard, and Zack Ballard and grandchildren, Savana Ballard, Kaitlyn Ballard, McKenzie Skyles, Addison Skyles, and Peyton Skyles.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Erlanger Hospital who took exceptional care of him during his final days.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Chattanooga Funeral Home-North Chapel, located at 5401 Highway 153, TN 37343. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm at the same location. He will be laid to rest next to his wife at Chattanooga Memorial Park, 501 Memorial Drive, Chattanooga, TN 37415.

In the words of Jim, "A wise man doesn't have all the answers, but he knows where to find them." His wisdom and guidance will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
