James Thomas Covington, Sr, age 83, of Ringgold, Georgia passed away Friday, August 6, 2010 in a local hospital. He was born April 27, 1927 in Danville, Virginia to the late Thomas and Eunice Covington.
Mr. Covington was a graduate of the University of North Carolina and was a member of Phi Kappa Sigma. He was a lifelong Tar Heel Fan and an avid golfer.
He was a Veteran of the United States Air Corps and was of the Presbyterian Faith.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Anne Covington and second wife Diane Covington.
Survivors include his son, Jim (Leslie) Covington, Jr. of Village of Lakewood, Illinois; daughter, Beth Lambert of Kalispell, Montana; son Mike (Julie) of Santa Fe, New Mexico; one sister-in-law, Mildred Griffing, Dallas, North Carolina; three grandchildren, J.T. Covington, III, Michael Lambert, and Karen Hampton; one great-granddaughter, Hayleigh Hampton.
A memorial service will be held Monday at 11:30 a.m. in the North Chapel. Interment will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends Monday from 11:00 -11:30 a.m. at the North Chapel.
