James B McGuffee, 87, of Chattanooga died Sunday, July 1, 2018. He was born April 19, 1931 in Chattanooga to the late James and Clara McGuffee. He was preceded in death by a brother, Leslie McGuffee.
He was of the Christian Faith.
Mr. McGuffee was a U.S. Army veteran. He was on a single A farm team for the Pittsburg Pirates. He could pitch left or right handed. He was an avid sportsman and loved ball of any kind especially baseball and basketball. He was retired from Southern Railway.
Survivors include his children, Debbie (Gary) Eskew, and James L. McGuffee; brothers, Paul (Margie) McGuffee, Roy (Sheree) Millsaps and Ray McGuffee; grandchildren, Jamison McGuffee, and Nichole (Daniel) Cholota; great granddaughter, Brynlyn Cholota; previous spouse and friend, Charlotte Wade.
The family will receive friends at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home Friday, July 13 from 5-7 followed by a brief prayer service.
Graveside celebration will be Saturday, July 14 at 10:00 am at Chattanooga Memorial Park.
