

Jim was born on May 12, 1938, the son of James Guy and Edna Earle Quinley. He was a 1956 graduate of Red Bank High School where he was a cheerleader and boxed in the Golden Gloves for two years. He graduated from the University of Chattanooga in 1963 and was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity. Jim served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the National Guard. Jim worked as a manufacturer’s representative for 40 years (1965 to 2008) selling baby furniture, toys and infant items. As a retiree, he worked at Life Care of Hixson as a valet for five years and drove cars for dealerships for 5 years.
Jim is survived by his beautiful wife, Cherie A Quinley, and daughters Mary Beth Jenkins (Walt), Chiesa Williams (Joel), and Charisse Houseye (Bob); five grandchildren, William and Andrew Jenkins, John Williams, and Chase and Corey Houseye. He was preceded in death by his mother and father and his beloved sister, Melinda Quinley.
Jim was a big fan of UTC, Tennessee, and Red Bank High School football. Jim loved sports and played tennis for 50 years and pickleball for 5 years. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A celebration of life will be held at Chattanooga Funeral Home, North Chapel, on Tuesday, December 30, visitation beginning at 1 p.m., with the service following at 3 p.m., the Rev. Dr. Charles Starks of North River Methodist Church officiating.
