October 18, 2017. James was born in Cleveland, Tennessee on December 26, 1966, and was a lifelong resident of Chattanooga Tennessee. He worked for Olan Mills Photography Studio for over twenty five years.
He is survived by his beloved son, First Lieutenant, Derek Walling, his beloved mother and step-father, Janeth and David Lawson, his beloved grandmother, Willie Mae Walling, aunts, Delilah and Gary Simmons, Jeanie and Donald VanWinkle, an uncle, James and Karen Walling. Cousins Chad Brown, Crystal Walling, Robert Walling Jr., Heather VanWinkle, Several second Cousins Tootie, Sheila, Mary Jo, Diane and Linda, many more family and friends and his dog Willow, his number one fan. He made friends so easily and was so true to each and every one of them. He wanted to say goodbye to his very special lifelong friend, Andy and that he will see him again some day.
He is preceded in death by his beloved grandfather, James I. Walling and an uncle, Robert Lee (Red-Eye) Walling and Cousins, Larry and Nita Morgan.
He was a very creative man and used his music to express his feelings, thoughts, intuitions and to express the feeling that sounds can produce, in hopes of helping others. He loved his family more than anything. He truly felt that life would be a mistake without music.
Services will be privately held by the family.
