In the early hours of June 25, 2015, Joan passed away peacefully due to natural causes at Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga. She was 73 years old.
Joan was born in San Francisco, California, on May 29, 1942, to Wilmer Julian “Bud” and Claire Marie Updyke.
She graduated from LaFayette High School in Georgia and also attended Capuchino High School in California.
Joan was employed by Johnson & Johnson in Atlanta and later owned a children's clothing boutique with her daughter, Kelly.
She loved shopping and decorating her home. She also enjoyed travelling and was an avid card player.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents, Bud and Claire Updyke.
She is survived by daughter Kelly Claire O'Rourke (William) Peterson of Chattanooga.
Funeral service for Joan will be conducted on Sunday, June 28 at 2:30 in the Chapel of Devotion with Reverend Mitch McClure officiating, Interment to follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
