

He was a life long resident of the Chattanooga area he graduated from Central High School in 1962 having served in the ROTC. He attended a junior college and then served in the infantry division with the U.S. Army. He was a computer analyst with Bluecross Blueshield Insurance Company for over 30 years.
John excelled in Karate, held a 3rd degree Black Belt and was a member of United Karate Studio having won many trophies. He was a first class pool player, having been a member of the Chattanooga Billiard Club for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Orman and Oma Jane Golden Cooper.
John is survived by his wife, Donnette Cooper, son, William Orman Cooper, step-son, Kevin Anderson, sisters, Carolyn Cooper Robinson and Judith Cooper, uncle, Don Cooper, nieces and nephews, Jeff and Mark Robinson, Lyn Jellison, Christina Hammett, Carolyn Grant, Sean Cowley and Jennifer Cowley.
Services will be held 11:30 A.M. Wednesday, December 29, at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 4 until 8 P.M. Tuesday and from 10:30-11:30 Wednesday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Sean Cowley, Kevin Anderson, Bruce Cooper, Jerry Davis, Larry Davis, Ric Davis, and Mark Robinson. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Chattanooga Billiard Club and United Karate Studio.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Supported Living Department at Orange Grove Center, 615 Derby Street, Chattanooga, TN 37404.
