John O. Cox

He was born in Toledo, Ohio in 1952 to the late Dr. Thomas R. Cox Jr. and Martha Jacobson Cox. Mr. Cox attended Brainerd High School in Chattanooga, Tenn. and graduated from Chattanooga High School in 1971. He then went on to receive his BS in Economics from the University of Tennessee Chattanooga. He was a systems programmer and IT Specialist for TVA and IBM, and was retired from both.

Mr. Cox travelled with his career and has friends all over the United States. His passion was craft beer, and many vacations were planned around festivals and tastings. He also loved watching and photographing wildlife in his backyard. He loved his pugs and always had one under his chair or in his lap. John served on the board of Clearlake Meadows HOA. He was raised in the Lutheran faith and was a member of Signal Mountain Presbyterian Church.

In 1975 he was married to Sandra Condra. They have one son, Nathan. He is survived by his wife, son, brother, Dr. Thomas R. Cox III and wife Loretta along with several nieces and nephews, sister-in-law Karen Condra Jones and Husband Randy, and sister-in-law Janet Condra Wilkins and nephew Connor Wilkins.

Visitation will be held at Chattanooga Funeral Home North Chapel on Monday from 4:00-7:00pm. A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, Room in the Inn, The McKamey Animal Shelter, or a no-kill animal shelter of your choosing.
