He was retired after thirty-five years as a carman for Norfolk Southern Railway and a former secretary/treasurer for the local union lodge BRC of US & C.
A longtime member of Hamilton Baptist Church where he served as Trustee and a Sunday School teacher prior to health problems.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, John William Dickey and Opal Pauline Veal, daughter, Janette M. Secrest and son Stephen E. Dickey, brother, Richard L. Dickey
Survived by his wife of 60 yrs. Linda Longley Dickey, son David Kevin Dickey, brothers, Roy Dickey, Wayne Dickey and Gary Dickey, sisters, Edna Dunn, Eve Eddleman, Elaine Walker and Rene Wheat.
The family will receive friends from 4-8 Thursday, July 8 at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be 11:00 Friday at the funeral home with Pastor Virgil Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
