John was born in Saginaw, Michigan and lived in Chattanooga since 1989. He was retired from U.S. Customs Service, where he last served as Port Director for the Chattanooga area. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1962-1966.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Anne and Emil Juntunen, of Calumet, Michigan.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Patricia Walker Juntunen; two children, John Norman (Renee) Juntunen and Thomas Emil (Stephanie) Juntunen of Chattanooga; two grandsons, Jacob Juntunen and Cooper Juntunen; a sister, Ileana Ruud of Northville, Michigan; a brother, Paul F. (Nancy) Juntunen of Townsend, Georgia and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
A memorial graveside service will be held 1:30 P.M. Wednesday, November 10 at Chattanooga National Cemetery. There will be no visitation.
