Katherine was born in Anderson, South Carolina in 1918 and had lived in the Chattanooga area since 1953 after living in several Southern states and Puerto Rico. She was the daughter of the late William Leonard Edwards, Sr. and Willie Nalley Edwards.
Katherine was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Denver Wayne Scott; sister Ethel Edwards McClure and Thelma Marilla Edwards Neal; brothers Frank Oliver Edwards, Obie Leonard Edwards and William Leonard Edwards, Jr.
Katherine is survived by her daughter Sylvia Scott Innes ( G. Ronald) of Signal Mountain; son R. Scott of Harrison; grandsons Scott L. Payne of Harrison, who was her devoted caregiver and David Wayne McKinsey of Cleveland; sister Lilly Edwards Miller of Wethersfield Connecticut; nieces and nephews
Katherine was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother. She was a dedicated secretary of the Brainerd Hills Baptist Church and of the Baptist Children’s Home . Visits with family members were very meaningful to her, and she shared her husband’s interest in gardening and hybridizing daylilies.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 4 , 2014 from 5-7 pm at Chattanooga Funeral Home-North Chapel
A private service and Interment will be held at later date
