Luke Overstreet, a vibrant and passionate soul, left this world far too soon at the tender age of 25. On June 27, the world lost a beloved son, brother, friend, and remarkable individual who brought joy and inspiration to all those whose lives he touched. Today, we gather to honor and remember a life that burned brightly, forever etching his memory in our hearts.
Born on August 29th, in Panama City Florida, Luke grew up playing in the sand and surf with his many family members in Bethany Beach, Delaware where his grandparents lived. Luke embraced life with an unquenchable thirst for beauty and artistic expression. From an early age, he displayed an immense love for music and could quote lyrics, trivia, and history surrounding pop, country, blues, hip-hop and other music genres. He would passionately describe to others what he loved about his favorite music and was always searching for new songs to add to his collection. He also was a big fan of anime, manga, and sports, each serving as a gateway to explore and appreciate the depths of his passions. His enthusiasm was contagious, leaving a lasting impact on those fortunate enough to have been in his company.
As a former Division 2 lacrosse player at Belmont Abbey College, Luke epitomized dedication and enthusiasm. He later enjoyed being an assistant coach, tutoring youths who were learning to play lacrosse.
But Luke's talents and interests extended far beyond the athletic arena. A gifted guitarist, he was self-taught by watching Youtube videos and could play a variety of songs from the Beatles to Radio Head.
Beyond his artful passions, Luke possessed an infectious joy and a kind-hearted nature that drew people towards him. His genuine smile could light up a room, and he always listened and connected with others with warmth and sincerity.
Luke is survived by his parents, Blaine and Margaret Overstreet, three brothers (Logan, Brendan, and Sam), his grandfather, Benjamin Jacob Overstreet, and a great many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Bill and Reba Ferris and his great aunt Anna Finch and grandmother Alma Loyce Overstreet.
