Mable was born and raised in Chickamauga, Georgia and has been a longtime resident of the Chattanooga area. She was a member of Hixson First Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Flay Welch, Sr. and her siblings, Harold and Clarence Long, Irene Ellis and Elizabeth Wallin.
Mable is survived by her children, Flay Welch, Jr. and wife Cheri, Katherine Smith and husband Bill, Linda Gilbert and Delores Jones and husband Dallas; 10 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the caregivers, Betty Dorsett and Lois Jones, the staff and nurses at Hospice of Chattanooga, especially Briana Keith and Shannon Miller for their love and care given to Mable.
The family will receive friends from 2:30 to 3:30 pm on Saturday at the North Chapel.
Graveside services for Mable will be held at 3:30 pm on Saturday at Hamilton Memorial Gardens with Reverend Terry Shannon officiating.
Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson, TN 37343.
