She was preceded in death by her parents Tom and Hattie Carter brothers Tom and David Carter and sister Betty Lipsky. She graduated from Texas Women’s University. Mrs. Popp was a member of the First Presbyterian Church for many years; currently she is a member of Alpine Baptist Church. She worked for the Girl Scouts in Boston Massachusetts and retired from teaching at Hixson Junior High School. Mrs. Popp loved the outdoors and teaching.
Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Walter F. Popp; children Robin Popp, Tom (Starr) Popp, and Eric (Joy) Popp; grandchildren Anakela Popp, Jared Popp, Nathan Popp, Maile Popp, Colton Popp, Haley Popp, Bryson Popp and Selena Popp.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 1:00 pm at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Fowler officiating. A private interment will follow with grandchildren serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday February 28 from 4-8and from 12-1 Wednesday.
