Marie was born in Assiott, Egypt and came to the United States in 1977 to be with her son and his family. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and Coptic Orthodox Church in Ooltewah. Marie was a volunteer with the American Red Cross for over 22 years at Memorial Hospital in Hixson.
She was preceded in death by her youngest son, Fadel Nemr Shenouda in 1957; and her husband, Nemr Shenouda, in 1976.
Marie is survived by her only son, Doctor Adel N. Shenouda of Chattanooga; grandchildren, Samer Shenouda of Alexandria, VA, Doctor Monica Shenouda of Italy, Doctor Christina Shenouda (David) Sadlow of Nashville, TN and Lisa Shenouda of Arlington, VA; two great grandchildren, Laila and Maddie Sadlow of Nashville; several nieces and nephews of Egypt and the United States.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 pm on Thursday at the Greek Orthodox Church at 722 Glenwood Drive.
A Celebration of Life Service for Marie will follow at 3 pm on Thursday at the Greek Orthodox Church with Father Luke officiating. Burial will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
