

Neal was born in Buffalo, New York, to the late Maynard J. and Irene Vane Black. He was a longtime resident of the Chattanooga area and was a 1977 graduate of Hixson High School. Neal was a contractor for over 28 years but a builder of friendship, kindness, love, strength and courage all of his life. He developed many neighborhoods in the Hixson, and Soddy Daisy area as well as apartment complexes and other businesses. He was a member of the Local Ironworkers Union. Neal was a devoted husband, father and was always a beloved friend and employer. He took so much pride in his work and all babies just adored him. Even in Neal’s death through organ donation he has touched the lives of three different individuals. Neal attended Graceworks Church. He was an avid antique car enthusiast and owned and enjoyed many cars over the years.
Neal is survived by his wife of over 30 years, Lana; daughters, Brittany, Taylor, and Hope; his special niece, Stephanie Ashburn and great nephew, Ryan Ashburn; niece, Leah McCartt and nephew, Steven McCartt and other cousins and many friends. His spirit will live on through all of those who crossed his path. He never had a day of laziness but now he will have eternal peace and rest. He will be greatly missed, never forgotten and always loved.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 6 pm on Monday at the North Chapel.
Services for Neal will follow at 6 pm on Monday at the funeral home with Pastor Jimmy Goddard officiating. Burial will be private for the family only.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Neal’s name to any charity that was close to your heart.
