Norman William Lampe

He grew up in New Hyde Park, New York, and later resided in North Babylon, New York.

Norman was a graduate of the Rochester Institute of Technology, in Rochester, New York. He was a veteran of the US Army.

Norman was a business owner when he returned to New York from service, opening a screen printing business. He loved sailing and was Commodore at the Long Island Yacht Club. Norman and his wife, Marilyn moved to Hixson in 1996, and he continued his membership in the Lions Club which he enjoyed for 50 years. Norman was also a member of Hixson Presbyterian Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Marilyn Sherbow Lampe, who was the girl next door, and the love of his life. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Carola Lampe.

Norman is survived by his son, Robert (Marilyn Jean) Lampe; his sister, Anita Heaton; 2 grandchildren, Neil (Jessica) Lampe, and Siobhan Lampe; and 2 great-grandchildren, Sloane Lampe, and Ayden Lampe.

A Celebration of Norman’s Life will be held at 2:00 PM, on Wednesday, July 31, 2024 at Hixson Presbyterian Church with Sr. Pastor Robert Johnson officiating. A committal service will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday August 5, 2024 at Chattanooga National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Association www.alz.org, or the Hixson Lions Club.
