She was predeceased by her parents Joseph Edwin and Edith Daugherty and by her son, Jay Cofer.
She is survived by the love of her life, Joseph Cofer, her husband of 62 years; her daughters, Jeri Montgomery (Mike), and Julie McLain; daughter-in-law, Tracey Cofer; grandchildren, Jenna Vickery (Jacob), and Jonathan Montgomery (Chloe), sister, Judy Klima (Dick), and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Pat, as she was known to her family and friends, was born in Knoxville on November 21, 1942, but spent most of her life in Chattanooga. She was a graduate of the Girls Preparatory School in Chattanooga, and attended the University of Chattanooga, where she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority. After meeting Joe and falling in love, Pat transferred to The University of Tennessee in Knoxville to complete her education near him, earning a BS in Education degree from UT.
Pat had a passion for sewing, quilting, crafts, cooking, and homemaking. Her family and friends loved and enjoyed her holiday decorations and menus, and she made beautiful quilts, cross-stitched pieces, and knitted items, among other things. Pat and Joe loved to travel, and Pat was always planning their next adventure. Together they traveled to several countries and to all fifty states.
She was the best mother and Nana anyone could ask for – always championing and cheering on her children and grandchildren in their pursuits and goals and was a comforting presence for them. She filled her home with love, peace, faith, and joy.
She was a member of North River Methodist Church, and the Unity Sunday School class.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 4th from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Chattanooga Funeral Home North Chapel, Hixson. The funeral service will be in the funeral home chapel Wednesday at 3:00 with Dr. Charles Starks officiating. Interment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
