

Dick was born on July 6, 1928 in Chattanooga, TN to Richard M. Yankee and Helen Bryan Yankee. He grew up in Rome, Georgia, graduated from Darlington School and Washington and Lee University. He then followed in the footsteps of his father as a teacher and coach at Darlington.
He married Susan Tucker from Corpus Christi, TX on June 1, 1950. Dick moved his family to Chattanooga in 1953 where he began work for Cumberland Corporation. He started in sales, and moved to Sales Manager and then Vice President of Sales. He left Cumberland to take a position as Vice President of Sales at Piper Industries in Memphis and later worked as a stock broker at J.C. Bradford.
Dick was an active member of St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church on Signal Mountain where he served on the vestry. Dick was an avid golfer and lover of jokes and kidding his many friends and family. Dick and several close friends attended the Masters golf tournament for many years. He was also a member of the ROMEO group and enjoyed his many friends at the Signal Mountain Athletic Club.
Dick is survived by his wife of 66 years, Susan; a son, Michael T. Yankee (Marilynn) of Corpus Christi, Texas; and a daughter, Ellen Yankee (Kevin Wood) of Decatur, Georgia; four grandchildren, three great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church, 630 Mississippi Ave. on Signal Mtn. on Saturday April 22nd. Visitation at 3:00 pm and the service at 4:00 pm.
