Rose was born in Jackson County, Alabama on October 12, 1923.
She graduated from Jackson County High School and worked on the home front during World War II at Brookley Army Air Field in Mobile, Alabama.
Rose was married to James William Holman on July 17, 1945; they were married 44 before years before James's passing in April, 1990.
Rose worked at the Volunteer Army Ammunition Plant and later at Kmart. Rose enjoyed gardening, sewing, and crocheting. She was also actively involved in her church, St. Thaddaeus Episcopal Church, where she served on the Altar and Flower Guilds.
Rose is preceded in death by her husband. James William Holman, Sr., son, James William Holman, Jr, grandson, Jason Phillip Daniel, her parents Jerry Brown Cotten and Ira Cotten, sisters Edith Cotten and Louise Petty, and a brother, Herman Cotten.
Rose is survived by her daughters, Joy (Phillip) Daniel and Jeanie (Michael) McKenna; granddaughters, Katie Fisher and Annie (John) Powell; grandsons Jason Holman, Sean (Sarah) McKenna, and Ryan McKenna; great-granddaughter, Madeline Powell; her brother, Wayman Cotten; and her sister Raye Woosley, as well as other family and friends.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 pm on Wednesday at the North Chapel and 10:30 to 11 am on Thursday at the church.
Services for Rose will be held at 11 am on Thursday at St Thaddaeus Episcopal Church, 4300 Locksley Lane, Chattanooga, TN 37416, with The Reverend David Hackett officiating. Burial will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to St Thaddeus Episcopal Church or the Arthritis Foundation.
The family wishes to thank Rose's Church family at St Thaddaeus, who so steadfastly stood beside her in her last years; special caregivers, Sunshine Hampton and Mandy Janda; the nurses and doctors at Memorial Hospital, and the staff of Amedysis Hospice.
