Stanley Eugene "Gene" Carter

Gene was born in Chickamauga, Georgia and was a lifelong resident of the Chattanooga area.

He was a devoted member and tireless servant at Fairview United Methodist Church. He loved his family who will remember him as a devoted husband, father, father-in-law and grandfather. He was the quiet rock of the family. Gene never met a stranger; he was a friend to all who knew him and will be missed by all.

Gene enjoyed time spent with friends, traveling and working outdoors.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Olen and Eva Carter and a brother, Jackie Carter.

Survivors include his wife, Rita Pearson Carter; daughters, Erika (Frank) Brown and Laura (David) Ward and grandchildren Carter and Madison “Maddy” Ward; nephews, Randy, Ronnie and Tony Carter; niece, Angie (Lynn) Sears; sister-in-law, Susan Pearson Swinney.

The family will receive friends today (Friday) from 5 PM to 8 PM at the North Chapel. A Memorial Service celebrating Gene’s life will be held Saturday at 11 AM at North Chapel with Rev. Clair Sauer officiating. Burial will take place Monday at 1:30 PM at Chattanooga National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Outreach Committee at Fairview United Methodist Church, 3901 Hamill Road, Hixson, TN. 37343
