Ms. Susie Marie Condra

Susie Marie (Douglas) Condra, 87, of Chattanooga, left this world, July 22, 2010 for her heavenly home. Most of her adult life, her residence was on Pineville Road in Chattanooga. In her latter days, she resided at Manorhouse, a local assisted living facility.

Ms. Condra was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, November 9, 1922 where she lived, worshipped, and worked all her adult life. She retired from Miller Bros. Company after 25 years of service. Ms. Condra was a Christian, faithfully loving our Lord. She was a long-time member of the Church of Christ. In her early days, she attended and was baptized at the Soddy Church of Christ; later attending the Churches at Woodland Heights and Northside.

She was a faithful wife of 52 years and a loving, caring and generous mother. She could always be counted on to provide a meal, a smile, and a kind encouraging word, a shoulder to lean on or a helping hand; expecting nothing in return. In her latter days, the folk providing care, commented; “Susie always greeted them with a pleasant expression and wonderful smile”. She will be missed by those that knew and loved her.

Ms. Condra was preceded in death by her parents Thomas T. and Sarah E. Douglas, Sr., brother, Thomas T. Douglas, Jr., and husband, Howard E. Condra.

She is survived by her son Tom E. (Gloria) Condra and numerous cousins.

The family would like to thank the management, staff and employees of Manorhouse Assisted Living of Chattanooga for all their kindness, love, consideration and care provided her during her stay. A special thank you and much gratitude to Monica Kyles and Karen Murphy, for their personal care, love, compassion, patience and loving attention provided Susie. Also, thank you Hospice of Chattanooga for their care, love compassion, patience and caring attention.

The funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, July 25, 2010 at the Chattanooga Funeral Home, North Chapel, Highway 153.

The ministers conducting the funeral services for Susie are: David Schonhoff, Central Church of Christ, Melvin Dudley, Manchester Park Church of Christ and Johnnie Statom, White Oak Church of Christ. Johnny Owens, Jr., Central Church of Christ, will conduct the song service.

Interment for Susie will be at the Condra Family Cemetery in Whitwell, Tennessee. Pallbearers will be Ivan Condra, James Condra, Ben Condra, Alex Condra, Ross Condra, and Garrett Condra.

Susie will lie in state at the Chattanooga Funeral Home, North Chapel, Highway 153, Friday, July 23, 2010 from 4-8 p.m., Saturday July 24, 2010 from 4-8 p.m. and Sunday July 25, 2010 from 2-3 p.m.
