Thomas Paul “Buck” Varner, 91, of Hixson passed away on Thursday, March
10, 2011. He was a life long resident of Hixson and a World War II Veteran of the U.S. Army.
Buck was retired from the U.S. Postal Service and a long time farmer. He was a member of Burks United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis M. and Susie Hunter Varner and a sister, Yetiva Gibson.
Survivors are his wife of 61 years, Juanita Vandergriff Varner; son, Glenn (Kathy) Varner of Fayetteville, TN; daughter, June (Scott) Cline of Hixson; five grandchildren, Adam, Alan (Miranda), and Amanda Varner, Kaylan and Candace Cline; sisters, Maxine Langley, Wanda Varner, Ann Dobbs; brother, Kenneth Varner.
Services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with the Rev. Leon Fraley officiating. Burial will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 3 until 8 p.m. Friday and from 12 – 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
