

He was employed by Ross Meehan Foundry for 42 years. An avid sports fan, he attended Central High School where he played football. Later he became a TSSAA football official in Tennessee and North Georgia. He attended the University of Chattanooga.
He was a longtime member of Eastdale United Methodist Church where he served as Chairman of the Board, a choir member, Boy Scout Leader, and coach of the Boys’ and Girls’ basketball teams. After moving to Red Bank, he became a member of the Red Bank United Methodist Church, formerly serving as President of the Carver-Tarwater Class.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert William Walker and Katie Wright Walker and five brothers, Paul Walker, Raymond Walker, Lee Walker, Robert “Bob” Walker and Whitfield Walker.
He is survived by his wife of almost 70 years, Marsena Rodgers Walker; three sons, David (Libby) Walker, Stephen Walker, Stanley (Kiva) Walker, all of Chattanooga; one daughter, Darlene Walker (Mike) Schlicher of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; one brother, Dr. Aubrey (Mary) Walker of Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia; and 7 grandchildren, Shelley Walker (Alan) Nelson of Montgomery, Alabama; John Schlicher, Katharine “Katie” Schlicher (Donavan) Grigsby, and Michael Schlicher, Jr., of Murfreesboro; Wesley Walker, Megan Walker and Brian Walker of Chattanooga.
Visitation will be Friday from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. at Red Bank United Methodist Church. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 p.m. at the church with Rev. Jeff Lambert officiating. Interment will be held at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Red Bank United Methodist Church Children’s Playground Fund.
