Wallace was born in Meigs County and raised in Dayton, Tennessee. He served our country during the Korean War, serving in the U. S. Army. He was a longtime resident of the Harrison area and retired from TVA with over 40 years of service. Wallace was a deacon at Denny Hill Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian Mae Thurman; mother, Cora Mae Thurman Moore; brother, Walter “Junior” Hicks; sister, Helen Vitch and his grandfather who helped raise him, Jesse Carroll Thurman.
Wallace is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Robert Bruce and Vicki Thurman; granddaughter, Hope (David) Dodson; grandson, Robbie Thurman; great grandchildren, Cassie and David Dodson, Jr.; sister, Carolyn Ezell; many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm on Saturday and 2 to 4 pm on Sunday at the North Chapel.
Services for Wallace will follow at 4 pm on Sunday at the North Chapel with Reverend David A. Evans officiating. A private burial will be held on Monday at Chattanooga Memorial Park.
Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson.
